3 Words to Live By

While I love the ‘clean slate’ feeling that a New Year brings … I hate New Year’s resolutions. With a passion. Oh, they usually start off well-intentioned enough … but quickly fall by the wayside when real life gets in the way.
So, last year I decided to try Chris Brogan’s tactic … choose three themes to help provide focus and clarity for the year. This I could do. Not only did it pull me away from the excruciating minutiae of ‘to do’ lists, it helped me connect with the bigger picture of what mattered.
This year’s words are: Learn. Connect. Enjoy.
I’ve some professional and leadership development courses coming my way this year, and I plan to take advantage to learn all I can through these – and any other – opportunities this year.
I also want to connect with others in 2010 … online, in person, and re-connect with those I may have lost touch with.
Lastly, I’m choosing to enjoy the year in full! To enjoy the wonderful variety of my job. To take pleasure in spending time with family and friends. To better savour the moment.
My words for 2009 were: Build. Branch. Grow. And I did.
Will you?
