Long Weekend Round Up: Frankenfoods, Helicopter-parenting and Rural War Life
Posted on | July 30, 2010 | No Comments
On the eve of a long weekend, I was pleasantly surprised by the random bits of interesting information that came my way today … and so, in lieu of a regular post, I bring you:
This food is just fine …
an editorial from the Ottawa Citizen supporting genetically modified farming practices because, hey, those urban chickens and rooftop gardens can’t feed us all. Support your local farms, but throw a ‘Frankensteak’ on the grill and become better informed on what it will actually take to feed a growing world population.
Helicopter-parenting our communities … the title alone made me laugh-out-loud as this humorous and well-said post shares what we economic and community developers are all too often guilty of … feel free to join in the discussion.
Rural war life focus of study … caught my eye as this project aims to offer glimpses into this moment in Canada’s history, but through a rural lens.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
