‘Rurban Round Up: Online Education for Entrepreneurs, Rural Clinic Success and 2010 Summer Vacation
Posted on | July 13, 2010 | No Comments
Summer’s finally here (hooray!) and I’ve some well-deserved vacation time waiting for me just around the corner. Meaning, posts on The ‘Fringe will be few and far between these next few weeks as I take in the great weather and spend time catching up with family and friends.
But before I go, remember the recent guest post by Joanne Steele? In it, she encourages communities to support local entrepreneurs, with many great examples … I’d like to add one more. Our agency, part of the national network of Community Futures organizations, has partnered with the GoForth Institute to offer Canada’s first (and only) entrepreneurship education program. Within Alberta, rural entrepreneurs now have the option to access online entrepreneurship learning modules to help them start – and grow – their small business … wherever they are. Find out more about the program via our website.
As well, with rural doctors calling for improvements to rural health, this article shares how a clinic in central Newfoundland is bucking the trend of doctors moving away from rural areas to practice in urban centres.
Thanks for visiting The ‘Fringe … see you soon.
