The 10 Steps of Entrepreneurial Development

  1. Successful entrepreneurial initiatives need strong local champions.
  2. Entrepreneurship initiatives require long-term investment.
  3. Successful projects must be flexible and entrepreneurial in terms of their goals.
  4. Partnerships and collaborations are a must.
  5. Include youth … they can often be a catalyst for change and will create a future pipeline of entrepreneurs.
  6. Leverage resources … financial, human, etc.
  7. Maintain momentum by celebrating successes.
  8. Implement a system of financial and technical support for all types of entrepreneurs.
  9. Ensure measurement systems to capture a range of outcomes.
  10. Encourage a supportive policy and cultural environment of entrepreneurship within the public, private and non-profit sectors.
